Crunch

Here's what I accomplished yesterday:

Crunch_1

This is what happens when plastic meets plastic.  I bumped... and I do mean bumped... a little Ford Escort.  His little bumper has one small crack in the middle of it.  Thankfully, the jolly German man was very understanding and nice about the whole thing.  He spoke English to boot.  He said he'd just done it to someone else a few months ago.  It's funny because someone just did it to me a few months ago too. We called the Polizei and they said to just exchange names and such.  Cool.  No ticket.  The whole thing took less than 20 minutes.  Could have been much worse.  Still... it's agitating that split second is going to cost us a $500 deductible to change the bumper out.    The repair shop that replaced the back bumper when I was hit last Spring will now have the honors on the front one.  The man that runs it thought it was all very funny.   ha. ha. ha.

Vneck I did manage to finish the left front of the Must Have.  The V-neck worked out just fine.  It hits right in the middle of my boobage.

I've started the right front and just about at to start the pattern.  Then the sleeves and we're good to go.

We plan on only bringing four backpacks to Scotland so we don't have to check any baggage (we'll only be there that first night and then four full days).   I'm going to try to take my knitting on the Denise needles.  If they give me trouble I'll just take it back out the car before we take off.  I really don't see me getting much knitting done during the trip. My nose will be pressed to the window watching the scenery, but I'll at least get the three hours to the airport to knit.

I need to catch up on blogs and email.  I've spent about 98% of my computer time planning out the trip.  I think it's all pretty well planned out now.  Pretty much everything I said in the last post but by car now and we've finalized all plans.

Yaow. We were side-swiped 2 weeks ago. Know the feeling. Bumpers are supposed to be bumpers, not busted. Mull is calling. wooooooo. It's the fairies that did it. Nice job on the must-have chica.
Dear Jean, I am so sorry about your accident and hope that knitting will help calm you, have peace! I found a post by you on Sandy's Knitting about a baby sock you had but can not find it on your site,, this is the link you had scottishlamb.typepad.com/the_scottish_lamb/2004/11/its_the_little_.html#comments would love to see it, blessings, Grace in Vermont
Ouch! Sorry to hear about the bump - that's always so unnerving (especially in a foriegn country). The cardigan is coming out very nicely - I am in awe of your patience and skill with all the changes in the pattern (and, yes, I'm sucking up so that I can be part of your carry-on luggage to Scotland :)
I bumped a "friend's" car about a year ago - I was trying to squeeze in tight to her car in front so as to leave room for cars to pass behind me - I misjudged and bumped her very slightly - didn't even make a dent. She maintained that her car had been scratched and had to be repaired etc. etc. Cost me 80 euro. That altered our "friendship" as far as I was concerned. That "scratch" (if it had been done by me at all) could have been touched up in 2 minutes with a little bit of spray or touch up paint.
I love that the German guy drives an American car. Funny. Not so funny is the bumper mishap. Hate stuff like that. Must Have looks great. :)
Oooohhh. So sorry about your bump-er. I'm so jealous of your trip to Scotland. I hope I get there some day. We saw one of the AFN spots on Norway this weekend and hubby pipes up and says he'd like to go there. I'm cool with that. Plenty of good yarn up there. Have a great time.
Oh-and always when you are planning a vacation, spending money, the gods of money say *phtt!* There's yours! You saved to go, we need it back! Must Have looks gorgeous!
I so remember that part of Must Have! The button band is ribbing going perpendicular, and I think it helps draw the eye away from the boobage, if it's any comfort! Sorry about the car thing.
You'd think that hitting a Ford Escort he'd come off worse wouldn't you, life just isn't fair sometimes!
Love the term boobage, one of my favs!
Is 'boobage' a real word? :) The Must Have looks beautiful. And I'll be expecting lots of Scotland photos - I travel vicariously, you know.
Sounds like an epidemic! A brand new disease just for auto repiar shops - bumperitis! And boobage is what I was afraid of with the Must Have. I was afraid that the wrong part of the cable would fall where it didn't I don't need the attention. Are you going to be able to survivce with just a backpack? If I got a bigger pack, I might be able to survive a week with everything packed into a pack.
Crunch! Well, that's what "bumpers" are there to do, isn't it? Glad no one was hurt (or mad).
Oh, your poor car, that happens here all the time, the french actually use their bumpers to move other cars when parallel parking. The Must Have looks great. I still haven't planned my trip, must get to it!
