Many Thanks

Bouquet Here's a virtual bouquet of flowers to you all.  Even though I know how much support there is out there in knitblogland, I'm amazed and very grateful for the outpouring of kindness and support I received over the last couple of days.  I'm pretty sure I emailed everyone who left comments and emailed.  If I missed you, I'm sorry, it definitely wasn't on purpose.  It had been a rough week, but it's had it's positive points and I've learned a few lessons and got some great advice.  I haven't talked to the woman yet, but I will next week.  Probably on Monday.  I just don't want to do it with anger, so it give me some time to calm down.  Just a side note, she does know about the AS and she's known us fairly well since she moved here a year and a half ago.  I'm not really sure what her reasons were behind leaving only Daniel out, but I am going to let her know that it hurt him, Dan and I.  Japan

On a lighter note... look what arrived from Japan already!  I am in love with these books.  The basket weaving one is full of baskets I want to make (haven't made one in a couple of years), the Handmade Felt books....  oooh..  too much to make in those, not near enough time but I'll try.  I may let a couple of them go... in time.  There are step-by-step photos to show you how to do everything.  If you are interested in them, you can find the ISBN's for each in my photo album.

The absolute keeper in the whole batch is the Fair Isle book.  GORGEOUS stuff inside.  Have a little taste:Fair_isle_1 Fair_isle_2

Fair_isle_4 Gorgeous stuff but my favorite is the one in browns and plums.  Normally I can't wear brown, but I think I could pull this one off because of the rosy shades and the plums in it.

I finished the self patterning socks but forgot to take a photo.  I'll get one up in the next post.

I'll leave you with a link that Jayne in Canada shared with me: Click here to hear a BBC broadcast about about the tradition of knitting ganseys in Whitby, Yorkshire.

Oh Jean, I am so sorry to hear all this. I always thought military kids (and parents) were more tolerant because everyone has to PCS. It looks like I was wrong. Perhaps bowling, golf or pool for Daniel? They all rely on geometry, perhaps he would take to those activities? (Ok, he's too young to hang out at the pool hall, but you understand my train of thought?) Too bad they don't have computer clubs at his age... The fairisles are beautiful, especially the Japanese ones (!) I think the rose and brown is VERY doable for you as long as the brown is cool cocoa brown! Have a hug- Bets
Beautiful Fairisle, how besotted am I at the moment? It makes you want to knit them all when you look in books like that doesn't it? Hope the chat goes ok, deep breaths, you'll be fine.
Those books look great, have fun finding new projects. The fairisles are very cool. Good luck talking to the other Mom. Have a good Sunday.
